DRIVE BY SUNSETS

Driving home in the spring and fall, I'm treated to some of the most amazing sunsets. Since I drive home heading west, and I have to cross two bridges over the bay, I get an unparalleled view. Each sunset is more beautiful than the day before; each minute is more breathtaking than the moment before. They are ever changing and utterly captivating.

I've only been making this drive for a little less than two years. But in that time I have managed to capture quite a few on my camera. The first few times I wasn't sure how they would turn out - I was driving and not really looking through the view finder, so the odds of really catching the beauty of the sunset were pretty low. But once I figured out how to hold the camera so that it was steady, and I still had my attention on the road, I started taking more and more.

Since September 1, 2008 I have been part of another photo project called Envisage365. Forty nine other women are participating in the year long event, where each day we take a picture of something that has struck us as 'post-worthy'. There are no rules except one photo per person, per day. In the past month and a half since I've joined Envisage, I've taken several shots of sunsets, but have only used a few. I didn't want to overdose on them; I wanted to be able to show other aspects of my life.

There are a few days when I have to specifically look for something to take a photo of, but more days than not I have too many. Deciding which picture to post each day is hard! So, I've decided to use this space to share photos that haven't made it to Envisage365.

Some of these photos will be of my dog Heap. Some will be photos of the beach, where I live. Others will be of family and friends. And lots of them will be DRIVE BY SUNSETS.

Hope you like them!
